Hello, storytellers! I’m the human behind the curtain here at Author Commons—an author by trade and temperament, with two books out in the wild: Wired Differently (a memoir) and An Enchanted Heart (Book One of the Heartbound Saga). I built this place for the same reason most of us write: so ideas have a home, and so we don’t have to talk to our characters only at 2 a.m.
This community is part salon, part workshop, part bustling town square. Whether you’re sharpening your first query, trading ARCs, plotting an epic, or mentoring the next wave, you’re in the right room.
How to jump in
-
Create a free account and introduce yourself in Introduce Yourself. Tell us your genre, current project, and one line you’re oddly proud of.
-
Share your work in the Critique boards—be brave, be specific, and tag content warnings.
-
Volunteer as a beta or ARC reader, or request them when you’re ready.
-
Join a prompt in Idea Spark & Prompts or start a craft conversation (Plot, POV, Worldbuilding, etc.).
-
Swap tools and lessons learned in Tools & Tech and Business & Marketing.
-
Invite a writer friend. Good communities grow the way novels do—one deliberate page at a time.
Our compass (house rules, short and sweet)
-
Be kind. Critique the work, not the writer.
-
Be specific. Notes beat noise; timestamps beat vibes.
-
Be timely. If you promise feedback, deliver it—or give a heads-up.
Why sign up now?
Because every community needs its early chorus. Your voice here—your questions, your insight, your half-formed ideas—shapes the culture for everyone who arrives tomorrow. Also, the internet has enough lonely drafts; let’s make fewer of them.
I’ll be posting updates, craft notes, and the occasional behind-the-scenes from Heartbound land (plus the memoir trenches). Expect the tone to be equal parts practical, encouraging, and lightly caffeinated. If a semicolon escapes and tries to unionize, I’ll handle it.
If you spot a bug, need a hand, or want to pitch an idea, swing by Site Feedback & Support. This is your commons as much as mine—help me make it the place you wish you’d had on Day One.
See you in the threads,
Admin, Author Commons
